Description
The present volume is written by a native of Anticosti Island, hence its particular interest. The other, Lionel Lejeune, has tried to make a personal contribution in the hope of shedding some light on the period during which Anticosti Island was owned by the Menier family.
In addition to providing information, this text is a kind of tribute to the family that Mr. Lejeune had the pleasure of knowing, and with whom a certain friendship was forged.
Written in a straightforward style, the book is lavishly illustrated with photos that bear witness to the era.
About the author: Lionel Lejeune was born in Baie-Ellis, Anticosti Island, on September 14, 1911. As a child, he was a playmate of Jean and Hubert Menier. He became the Villa’s janitor from 1939 to 1952, and Consolidated Paper’s official photographer from 1946 until his departure in 1966. Now retired, he takes the opportunity to share his memories with us.
